These announcements dealt with former SCA organizational restructuring items of 2006 and 2007.
Announcement No. 1
Special Message re: Missionary Support - GOING BACK TO CLARITY!
Because our sponsors have a need for, and the right to clarity, this article explains how your money that you send in is distributed to our Missionaries and/or used by the Mission.
First of all, our SCA partner donors have three basic areas by which to direct or designate their donations. These are:
1. National General Fund
This designation can also be further directed, if one desires, to:
i. Where Needed Most
ii. Mortgage loan reduction of Head Office property purchase
iii. Mortgage loan reduction of SCA purchase of Eagle's Cove property
Where General Funds are not so designated, SCA will use them where needed most.
2. A Field Missionary
Funds can be directed to the accounts of one or more of our Field Missionaries which currently include:
i. Wesley Frizzell
ii.Allen and Catherine Hilgendorf
iii. John and Cynthia Noble
iv. John and Judy Shultz
v. John and Jean Tibbles
These donations are currently subject to a 7% administration fee for the SCA National General Fund.
Head Office and the Field Missionary establish an agreed to monthly salary and/or expenses arrangement and all the funds are held in trust (for good times and bad times) for the Missionary to draw on over time in accordance with their agreed to salary and expense arrangements.
You may have noticed from the above list, that the Missionary you are supporting is not listed in this group. The reason is that the balance of our Missionaries are part of a team assigned to one of our four Ministry Centres and support for them is handled in accordance with Category 3 below.
3. A Ministry Centre's General Budget
Funds can be directed to the accounts of one or more of the SCA Ministry Centres which currently include:
i. SCA Blueberry Ministry Centre & Bible Camp, Fort St. John, BC
ii. SCA Eagle Bay Ministry Centre & Camp, Hilbre, MB
iii. SCA Eagle's Cove Ministry Centre, Thunder Bay, ON
iv. SCA Eagle's Nest Ministry Centre, Rocky Lane, AB
Such designations should also be further broken down as follows under each Ministry Centre:
i. Where Needed Most
ii. Staff Support
iii. Capital Projects
Where no such designation is made, funds directed to a Ministry Centre will be allocated to "Where Needed Most".
These donations are currently subject to a 7% administration fee for the SCA General Fund.
You can still identify a particular missionary on your donation form and he/she will get credit for such donations towards the required amount that he/she needs to raise personally, but funds over and above that will be directed to the Ministry Centre's General Staff Support account.
The more you support your local Ministry Centre and/or specific Missionaries, the easier it will be for the Mission to establish a more appropriate salary for them as servants of the Lord, using a systematic salary schedule.
We strongly encourage you to consider the benefits to this approach for the Lord's work and what it means for teamwork -- both living and working together. We have put procedures in place that do not allow one missionary to simply do nothing in terms of raising support for the Centre, but rather that each play their unique role in raising funds for the Ministry as a whole.
We believe that this will help maximize the effectiveness of our teams. As together we all raise more support, SCA would like to improve the currently low salary levels of its missionaries, bringing them more in line with other missions and having them better reflect the level of responsibilities as well as the experience in carrying those responsibilities out.
